The Royal College of Obstretricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) is a membership organisation with some 35,000 contacts. RCOG came to us in 2004 with two problems: Their Informix membership management system (MMS) was inflexible and long overdue for replacement, but an 18 month long project to develop its successor had stalled due to supplier problems. Loopo was able to turn this potentially disastrous situation around and deliver a working application within 6 months of taking on the project. We choose RCOG's project as the first chance to unveil Loopo Framework Objects, our in-house technology for building feature rich, flexible desktop and web-enabled applications.
Having successfully released MMS v2, we were then asked by RCOG to develop a new version, MMSv3, with more enhancements based on users' suggestions throughout the first year of MMSv2's deployment. MMSv3 went live in autumn 2006 and has been a resounding success.
RCOG's Director of IT, Jon Price, gave us the following testimonial:
"(We) selected Loopo as the supplier of the Membership Management System (MMS) because of its flexible and cost effective approach. The requirement at the College wasto migrate from an Informix based system that was very fragmented in its design and as a result inflexible for our complex reporting requirements.
Loopo's proposed solution was to design and build a bespoke solution offering the stability of a SQL database coupled with a .net front end that has proved to be very flexible. As in many projects of this nature the goalposts tend to get moved, but Loopo's flexibility as a supplier gave us the leverage required at various stages of the project to make some major enhancements.
Loopo's continuing support and innovative mindset have lead to some major changes in not only the nature of the system but in the way various departments utilise its features such as the Advanced Query Tool."
