Obs Jobs - Zinc succeeds where MTAS failed!
In late 2007, we were handed one of our biggest challenges by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists: Could we succeed in developing a nationwide online application solution for medical trainees, where the NHS had so spectacularly failed with the doomed MTAS system?
Zinc was the ideal platform to deliver such a solution - the winning combination of high performance, a secure platform and rapid development was just what the doctor ordered. The new “Obs Jobs” system (as it was christened) went live on time and on budget in January 2008. The system has withstood a number of usage spikes, as thousands of candidates rushed to get their applications submitted before the deadline. There have not been any security breaches or periods of site unavailability.
RCOG’s head of Postgraduate Training, Belinda Grantham-Hill commented:
“Loopo were first approached by the RCOG in November 2007, and Obs Jobs went live in January 2008. Over 2000 applicants registered with the website, with nearly 3000 applications submitted. Feedback from users has been very positive, and the system will be used for recruitment in 2009.
Perhaps the most important aspect of working with Loopo was the way in which they took time to understand exactly what was required of the system. They have been a pleasure to work with and whilst the technical side of the recruitment process could have been daunting, they ensured that the design and implementation of the system ran as smoothly as possible.”
Loopo has now licensed “Obs Jobs” in collaboration with the RCOG, under the name “Zinc Medical Recruitment”. Please contact us if you would like to use ZMR to run your trainee recruitment campaign.
