British Academy's new website

BACS Website

We've been busy developing a brand new website for the British Academy of Composers and Songwriters, and were very happy to see it go live in late 2006. The new site adds key features such as online membership applications (including credit card payment via WorldPay), an efficient search engine to help you find composers and songwriters working in particular genres or geographic locations and a member's section where members can upload and edit their own webpage.

Vick Bain, Financial controller and general manager at BAC & S, gave us the following comments:

"Loopo understood our objectives and showed a clear understanding of what we were trying to achieve, developed precise solutions, had an impecable attention to detail and were very adaptable to our needs; some of which had not been immediately apparent at the start of the projects.  We particularly like the TRAC system Loopo have developed to communicate, manage modifications and enhancements; this has proved an invaluable project management system.  I have total faith in their abilities to deliver technical solutions that work and am looking forward to the next stage of our IT development."

Technical stuff

We've used Joomla (an open source content management system), bits of our own Loopo Framework Objects and some custom PHP to hook everything together. Most importantly, we developed some procedures to keep the web-based MySQL database in sync with the MS SQL Server db at BAC&S HQ - crucial so that new member info gets sent from the web back to base. Mysql's ODBC driver was key to enabling this.
