Recruitment agencies
We’re used to recruitment agencies being on the persistent side when it comes to cold calling, but a recent caller really took the biscuit.
The agent (we’ll call him “Dave”) first tried fairly straightforward tactics (owning up that he was a recruitment consultant) to get us to transfer the call to our senior developer (who he was presumably trying to poach). Needless to say, he got a fairly perfunctory response.
His next try, a few days later, ran along similar lines but this time he was oddly coy when we asked what company he was calling from. Our memory wasn’t quite as short as he’d hoped - nothing doing. A week passed, and we picked up another call from the same hapless individual. This time, when asked what the call was regarding he countered “it’s a personal call”. That’s was very easy. “Sorry, our employees don’t take personal calls on this number”, we parried.
We thought we’d seen the last of him, but no, he tried again last week. Receiving our summary putdowns and refusals to forward the call, he was clearly so upset that he had to have one last go at gaining the upper hand. “Oh, he doesn’t take personal calls on this number? No problem, I’ll call his mobile”, he said with gritted teeth.
Needless to say, he does not, and never will have our developer’s mobile phone number.
(NB: We would like to point out that any recruitment agencies silly enough to call us can expect to have their efforts ridiculed in a similar, or worse fashion in this blog. You have been warned. )

I am a recruitment consultant my-self, and i am disgusted by the way some people have the rudeness to keep pestering companies when they say NO! all i want to give is an apology to your company on behalf of the recruitment industry. I hope that some day you will use a company that shows the respect they deserve.

I am very disappointed with your experience with recruitment agencies. However it can be a case with one or two agencies and not with every one in recruitment industry.
REC (Recruitment and Employment Confederation) code of conduct focus on best practise in recruitment industry which considers the clients and candidates.
I am sharing a small testimonial of my client (it is not for advertisement)
We used [XXX - company name removed] and found that their service had an added value of personalized approach combined with an ‘out of the box’ method of searching for suitable candidates. That makes them stand out and differ from the ordinary recruitment agencies. Ability to deliver very high quality of applicants and highly appropriate to our requirements, combined with a highly efficient process and extremely cost-effective, convinced us to most definitely use [XXX - company name removed] again.
Thanks
